The only downside, and one for which I should have prepared, was the mosquitos near the tent areas. Next time I'm bringing repellant.
Nice place on the river!
If you can't like this campground your not going to like much. Even my dog didn't want to leave (not kidding). Peaceful place, very nice camping facilities and friendly hosts, man what a stay!!!
I stayed at one of the two tent sites. In my opinion, I had the best spot in the park. ;-) The river was right below my site with hundreds of elephant ears along the bank. Tombigbee was gently flowing downstream, as if to say, "Take a load off, relax." The sun set in the trees, casting its final rays of the day on the waters.
I am one of three host and Service Park is a very nice place to camp.
We decided to escape the threat of Hurricane Irma by taking our RV to camp here. The whole family loved it. The staff at the park were absolutely fabulous, made us feel safe and welcome during a very difficult time. Many thanks to Ms. Sheila and Mr. Richard for looking out for us!
The moon didn't come out till later that night. So with the lights of a city miles away, I had the opportunity to see the most stars (and many actually "twinkling") that I've seen in twenty years.
